Bishop Lawrence Nicasio continues to recover at Regina Cleri, a home for retired priests in the Archdiocese of St Louis, Missouri following surgery to remove a blockage of the colon found to be cancerous.

On August 1, Bishop Larry Nicasio informed the diocese that he was seeking medical attention at the Catholic Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, USA.  He said he had undergone a surgery to remove the blockage of the colon on 21st July, 2022.

In his absence, his office continues to conduct business under the leadership of Frs. Noel Leslie, Amelio Chi, and Jordan Gongora.

The bishop hopes he will soon be well enough to return to Belize where he can continue his treatment.

He thanks everyone for their prayers, “Your prayers and encouragement have constantly strengthened me, and I know I can count on your prayers and support as I continue to receive treatment.”

The church community in Belize and beyond and all his family and friends continue to pray for the bishop’s speedy recovery and return to his flock.
