Very Reverend Fr. Jordan Gongora named the “Diocesan Administrator” of the Diocese of Belize City and Belmopan

At the end of the funeral Mass for Bishop Lawrence Nicasio on January 9, 2024, bishop of Mandeville, Jamaica, Bishop John Persaud, main celebrant, announced the appointment of Rev. Fr. Jordan Gongora, as Diocesan Administrator.

“Following all the prescriptions of the law metropolitan Archbishop Kenneth Richards of the Archdiocese of Kingston Jamaica today named Very Rev. Fr. Jordan Gongora, a Diocesan Priest, the *Diocesan Administrator* of the Diocese of Belize City & Belmopan. He will govern the diocese in the interim following all prescriptions of the law.”

Bishop Persaud called on all members of the consultors and diocese to fully support the Rev. Fr. Gongora during this time and until a new Bishop is chosen to fill the vacant See.
